Captain American is heading south for his latest comeback.

Landon Donovan http://www.billsauthorizedshops.com/aut … ine-jersey , widely considered the most accomplished player in American soccer history, is coming out of retirement for the second time in three years, this time to join Club Leon in Mexico.

The Liga MX team announced Donovan’s return to soccer on Twitter on Friday night. Donovan will play for Leon in the Mexican Clausura tournament, although more details on his signing were not provided.

Donovan has spent the past three days in Leon, raising speculation that he might join the club. He also tweeted Friday about joining Club Leon, saying he was excited to face former U.S. teammate and current C.F. Pachuca player Omar Gonzalez next month.

The 35-year-old is the career scoring leader in Major League Soccer and for the U.S. national team. He returned to the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer in September of 2016 following a 21-month retirement and appeared in nine games. He hasn’t played professionally since Nov. 6, 2016.

BASEBALL

NEW YORK (AP) – Third basemen Josh Donaldson and Kris Bryant set records when they were among 145 players who agreed to one-year contracts rather than swap proposed salaries in arbitration with their teams.

Donaldson and Toronto agreed at $23 million, the largest one-year deal for an arbitration-eligible player. The 32-year-old, a three-time All-Star, topped the $21,625,000, one-year deal covering 2018 agreed to last May by outfielder Bryce Harper and Washington.

Bryant settled with the Chicago Cubs at $10.85 million Youth Matt Nieto Jersey , the most for a player eligible for arbitration for the first time. The previous mark was held by Philadelphia first baseman Ryan Howard, who was awarded $10 million by a three-person panel in 2008.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has been arrested in Alabama and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.

AL.com says the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest database indicates Foster, who just finished his rookie season, was arrested Friday. Bond was set at $2,500.

A statement from the 49ers Friday night said: ”The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are currently gathering all relevant facts.”

The former Alabama linebacker was a first-team All-American for the Crimson Tide in 2016 and won the Butkus Award. He was a first-round pick in last year’s NFL draft.

Foster started all 10 games he played in this season and posted 72 tackles.

He was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month in November.

SPORTS BETTING

BOSTON (AP) – A new daily fantasy sports game that lets users hone in on a single NFL playoff game has some gambling experts wondering if the contest inches the industry closer to the territory of sports betting that remains illegal in most of the United States.

The ”Showdown” variant offered by leading fantasy sports company DraftKings allows users to pick six athletes from two teams playing against each other in a real-life football game, racking up fantasy points based on stats like touchdowns, receptions and yards passing, rushing or receiving. That means users playing ”Showdown” this weekend can wager on performances in the Jaguars-Steelers game Sunday without having to wait for the Saints-Vikings game to play out several hours later.

The 2006 federal law that effectively banned online gambling but gave rise to daily fantasy sports requires daily fantasy contests to be based on the performances of athletes in ”multiple real-world” sporting events – not just single games. That detail is leading some advocates to question how DraftKings and regulators operate.

Rory McIlroy says he has a heart ailment that will have to be monitored regularly but is not expected to affect his play.

McIlroy said in an interview with The Telegraph that he has a thickening of the left ventricle. He says doctors told him it was caused by a viral infection he suffered in China 18 months ago.

He says he’ll get an electrocardiogram every six months and an MRI once per year.

”There’s a bit of scar tissue. For now, I just need to stay on top of it and have to stay fit. Hey, I was planning on doing that anyway,” McIlroy said.

James Harden scored 26 points Jimmy Smith Jersey , Eric Gordon had 18 points and two momentum-swinging 3-pointers in the third quarter, and the Houston Rockets beat the Milwaukee Bucks 110-99 on for their 17th straight win.

The Rockets passed the Boston Celtics for the longest winning streak in the NBA this season. Houston hasn’t lost since Jan. 26 at New Orleans.

The latest victory came on the second of a tough back-to-back stretch of road games that started with a 10-point victory at Oklahoma City. No wonder the Rockets looked sluggish at times against the Bucks.

Trailing by about 10 points for most of the fourth quarter, Milwaukee got within 104-99 with 1:06 left on Sterling Brown’s layup.

Chris Paul answered with a short floater in the lane with 45 seconds left after driving on Jason Terry to silence Bucks fans who were pleading ”Defense! Defense!”

DALLAS (AP) – The NBA is reviewing 2011 allegations of sexual assault against Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and the investigation that led to a decision by prosecutors not to pursue the case.

League spokesman Mike Bass said the NBA was looking into the matter, a day after a weekly alternative newspaper in Portland, Oregon, reported a woman’s claim that Cuban put his hands down her pants and touched her inappropriately while they were taking a photo at a Portland nightclub. The report Tuesday in the Willamette Week came about a week and half after a Sports Illustrated account that portrayed a hostile work environment for women in the front office of the Mavericks. While Cuban wasn’t implicated, the SI report raised questions about what he knew and when.

Cuban flatly denied the woman’s allegations and provided a prosecutors’ report detailing the decision not to file charges.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

SAN DIEGO (AP) – University of San Diego coach Lamont Smith resigned 10 days after he was arrested for investigation of domestic violence at the end of a road trip.

Smith’s resignation came one day after the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office said he wouldn’t face charges ”at this time” in a domestic violence investigation. Even though no charges were filed, the university said on Tuesday that Smith remained on administrative leave pending a school investigation.

Athletic director Bill McGillis said Smith, who played at USD and was in his third season as coach, offered his resignation and the school accepted it. McGillis said he then notified the team.

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Stephen Brown scored 22 points and reserve Nate Sestina added 16 as Bucknell won its second straight Patriot League Tournament championship with an 83-54 victory over Colgate.

The top-seeded Bison (25-9) head to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in program history and sixth time as the Patriot League representative. Four of those six titles have come in the last eight years.

The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles bolstered their formidable pass rush with another top-level defensive lineman.

The Eagles acquired three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett from the Seattle Seahawks, three people familiar with the trade told The Associated Press. The deal won’t be officially announced until the NFL’s league year opens next Wednesday. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the trade information.

Seattle gets wide receiver Marcus Johnson and a fifth-round pick, while Philadelphia also receives a seventh-round pick.

Bennett had 8 sacks last season and 54 in his nine-year career.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The Los Angeles Rams agreed to trade linebacker Alec Ogletree to the New York Giants for two draft picks, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because NFL trades can’t be announced until March 14. ESPN first reported the deal.

Los Angeles gets the Giants’ fourth-round and sixth-round picks in the 2018 draft. The NFC West champion Rams also will send a seventh-round pick in 2019 to the Giants along with Ogletree, their defensive captain and last season’s leading tackler.

NEW YORK (AP) – Jerry Jones agreed to pay the NFL more than $2 million in legal fees resulting from two disputes the Dallas Cowboys owner had with the league, a person with direct knowledge of the settlement told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL did not announce details.

Commissioner Roger Goodell held an appeal hearing with Jones on Monday. That came a few days after Goodell assessed the financial penalties for Jones’ lawsuit to overturn the suspension of Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott, and for a lawsuit Jones threatened to stop Goodell’s newly approved contract.

DENVER (AP) – Peyton Manning sold 31 Denver-area Papa John’s stores last week, two days before the NFL dropped the chain as its official pizza sponsor.

The Denver Post reported that Papa John’s spokesman Peter Collins confirmed the former NFL quarterback sold his stake to an existing Papa John’s franchisee. Manning will remain Papa John’s celebrity spokesman and brand ambassador. He wasn’t immediately available for comment.

The NFL and Papa John’s ended their deal Feb. 27.

Toronto’s Randal Grichuk put on a show for hundreds of friends and family that made the trek up to Houston to see him play just his third career game at a ballpark only about 35 miles from his hometown of Rosenberg Al Woods Jersey , Texas.

Grichuk hit a two-run homer and made a huge defensive play, helping the Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 6-3 on Monday.

”You can’t feel your body all game,” Grichuk said. ”You feel like you don’t need to stretch or get loose. It’s just as special for me as I know it is for my family.”

Toronto also got two homers from Curtis Granderson against Justin Verlander, but the night belonged to Grichuk in one special homecoming.

His soaring 471-foot home run, which clanged off the light pole above the train tracks on the left-field wall, came against Will Harris and made it 6-3 with two out in the eighth.

Grichuk then reached over the short wall in right field to rob George Springer of a homer with two on and no outs in the ninth.

”Those are the plays you dream of that you don’t really get too often,” he said. ”But exactly what you hope for happened.”

Grichuk, who moved from center to right field in the bottom of the ninth, had his back to the wall when he reached between two fans with gloves to make the grab.

Springer stopped running and bent down in disbelief when he realized Grichuk had robbed him.

”Baseball can be pretty cruel,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. ”That’s a tough one. Right off the bat Authentic Josh Allen Jersey , I thought George got one. It carried and carried and carried and looked like he had to go pretty deep into the stands to get it.”

Granderson’s leadoff shot in the fifth tied it at 3. He connected again with two out in the seventh, belting an opposite-field drive off Verlander (9-3) into the second row in the Crawford Boxes in left field.

”I’m not a huge fan of the Crawford Boxes right now,” Verlander said. ”The one to right, I thought Curtis got pretty good. The one to left, I didn’t think he got that one very good. But it’s the ballpark we play in. It’s fair for all sides. I need to do a little bit better job.”

Verlander, who entered with a major league-best 1.60 ERA, allowed four runs and seven hits – both season highs – in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked two in his first loss since May 11.

Toronto’s J.A. Happ (10-3) yielded three runs and seven hits in six innings in his sixth straight win. Seung-hwan Oh worked the ninth for his second save.

Former Astro Teoscar Hernandez, who received his World Series ring in a pregame ceremony, had three hits and Justin Smoak drove in two runs as the Blue Jays won their third straight.

Alex Bregman homered in the Astros’ third loss in 18 games.

Hernandez singled with one out in the first before Yangervis Solarte drew a walk. Smoak’s two-out double lifted Toronto to a 2-0 lead.

Yuli Gurriel singled in Jose Altuve in the bottom half, and Bregman’s drive to the seats in left tied it at 2 with one out in the third.

Bregman also singled in Jake Marisnick in the fourth Curtis Samuel Jersey , but the Blue Jays tied it up again when Granderson sent the third pitch of the fifth inning into the stands in right for his eighth homer this season.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Astros: RHP Joe Smith (right elbow inflammation) felt good after throwing a bullpen on Sunday and will throw one more bullpen before likely beginning a rehabilitation assignment this weekend.

Blue Jays: RHP Aaron Sanchez (bruised finger on right hand) has less swelling and discomfort and will start playing catch in the next few days.

WHERE DID IT GO?

Granderson hit a foul pop in the first inning that got stuck in the park’s rafters. Catcher Max Stassi threw off his mask and looked up as he waited for it to come down, but it never did. Bregman soon trotted to the plate and started looking up to see where it was, too. Verlander held his glove over the top of his head for a few seconds, jokingly protecting himself if it happened to drop near him. Granderson and the trio of Astros then laughed, and Granderson got back in the box to resume his at-bat.

”I still have no idea what happened on that,” Granderson said. ”I’ve never hit a ball that high before.”

UP NEXT

Charlie Morton (9-1, 2.77 ERA) pitches for Houston on Tuesday, looking for his 10th win. Morton allowed just two hits and one unearned run in six innings of a 5-1 win over Tampa Bay in his last outing. The Blue Jays have yet to announce their Tuesday starter.

OAKLAND 49ers Tarvarius Moore Jersey , Calif. — Oakland Athletics fans will get a chance to see their new record-tying pitcher in person for the first time Saturday when right-hander Edwin Jackson takes the mound against the Cleveland Indians.

The 34-year-old Jackson (0-0, 1.50 ERA) made history Monday when he pitched a 5-4 win for the A’s at Detroit.

Oakland became Jackson’s 13th team in his 16-year career, allowing Jackson to tie a former member of the A’s, Octavio Dotel, for most major league franchises in a career.

Jackson did not get a decision in his A’s debut despite allowing just one run and six hits in six innings. He has, however, had a lot of success against the Indians in his career.

Jackson has pitched 15 times, 13 as a starter, against Cleveland in his career, going 9-1 with a 2.76 ERA.

The nine wins are the fifth-most for an active Indians opponent, trailing just Justin Verlander (20) and three players he can tie with a win Saturday — Zack Greinke (10), David Price (10) and Rick Porcello (10).

The .900 winning percentage is the second-best among active pitchers with five or more career decisions against the Indians Authentic Customized Rams Jerseys , trailing only another former A’s pitcher, Gio Gonzalez (6-0).

Jackson admitted thoroughly enjoying Monday’s comeback effort.

“It’s a lot of fun pitching in games like that, kind of the new guy and wanting to set a good first impression,” he said.

Jackson could have a similar feeling Saturday as it will be his first home game as a member of the A’s. He has pitched two previous games in Oakland, both as a visitor, going 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA.

The veteran will be backed by an A’s team that has won five in a row and 11 of its last 13. The A’s also won eight of their last nine against the Indians dating back to 2016.

Not surprisingly, given his 15 previous years in the majors, Jackson has a significant history against several members of the Indians, including Yonder Alonso, who has gone 7-for-16 (.438) with two doubles and two home runs against his fellow ex-San Diego Padre.

Alonso also is no stranger to Oakland, having represented the A’s in the 2017 All-Star Game, after hitting 22 home runs in 100 games Authentic Logan Paulsen Jersey , before getting dealt to the Seattle Mariners.

The 31-year-old credits A’s manager Bob Melvin for helping him get the three-year, $24 million contract he received from the Indians in free agency over the winter.

“It’s always nice to come back here,” Alonso said Friday. “They gave me a huge opportunity that I’m really thankful for.”

Cleveland will counter on the mound Saturday with rookie right-hander Adam Plutko (4-1, 4.65), who has never faced the A’s.

Like Jackson, Plutko is coming off a successful outing against Detroit, allowing two runs and six hits in six innings in a 12-2 win last Sunday.

He’ll find himself having to deal with one of the hottest hitters in all of baseball, Oakland second/third baseman Jed Lowrie, who contributed a home run to Friday’s 3-1 win in the series opener.

Lowrie has four singles, three doubles and three home runs in his last five games.

Spain has made a coaching change just two days before the start of the World Cup in a move that will be heavily scrutinized over the coming weeks.

Was it a surprise move? Absolutely.

But the history of coaching dismissals in soccer and every other sport is littered with strange timing Authentic Landon Collins Jersey , strange decisions and strange circumstances. Now Julen Lopetegui’s case joins them.

Lopetegui was fired as Spain’s national team coach on Wednesday after accepting a job to lead Real Madrid next season . He will be replaced by Fernando Hierro for the country’s match against Portugal on Friday.

Spanish soccer federation president Luis Rubiales said firing Lopetegui wasn’t ideal, but had to happen after Madrid’s announcement.

”It’s a difficult situation, but we are not the ones who determined the action that had to be taken. The federation has its values and it has to maintain them,” Rubiales said. ”It may look like a weakness now, but with time this will make us stronger.”

Here’s a look at some other high-profile coaches in the United States who have had strange circumstances surround their dismissals:

LANE KIFFIN, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: Kiffin’s self-described dream job ended with a spectacular thud in 2013 after he was fired during a 3 a.m. meeting at the Trojans’ private airport terminal. His dismissal came just hours after the team lost 62-41 to Arizona State. At the time, USC athletic director Pat Haden said ”It’s never the perfect time to do these things, but I thought it was the right time.”

WILLIE RANDOLPH http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/ … son-jersey , NEW YORK METS: Randolph’s firing in 2008 wasn’t necessarily a huge surprise because his job security had been a constant topic, but the timing was definitely strange. General manager Omar Minaya flew to the West Coast when the Mets were on the road and fired Randolph in the middle of the night, a few hours after the team had earned its third win in four games.

DAVID BLATT, CLEVELAND CAVALIERS: Blatt led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2015 and had the team sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference standings in 2016 with a 30-11 record when he fired. Wins alone didn’t tell the whole story – Blatt and star LeBron James had an uneven relationship. Cleveland elevated Tyronn Lue to head coach and the Cavaliers won the championship later that year.

HUGH FREEZE, MISSISSIPPI REBELS: Freeze led Mississippi to a 39-25 record and a Sugar Bowl victory over five seasons. He looked like he was going to survive a lengthy NCAA investigation into the program, but was fired just before preseason practice in 2017 when school officials found a ”pattern of personal misconduct” that started with an investigation into a one-minute call to an escort service.

JOE GIRARDI, FLORIDA MARLINS: Girardi led the Marlins to a 78-84 record during the 2006 season which was quite an accomplishment considering the franchise had a $15 million payroll which was the lowest in baseball that season. His firing wasn’t necessarily about things that happened on the field: Girardi and team owner Jeffrey Loria clashed after Girardi asked Loria to stop yelling at umpires from his seat behind home plate. Girardi would eventually be hired by the Yankees and lead them to a World Series title in 2009.

Philadelphia’s mayor on Friday praised fans for their largely peaceful revelry at the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade Ravens Cheap Jerseys , noting only a few ”small hiccups” during a celebration that included two stabbings, a toppled Jumbotron and the assault of an officer.

Police reported two arrests as hundreds of thousands of people wearing green, many of them overcome with equal parts joy and relief after the Eagles’ first Super Bowl victory, crowded the city for a party nearly 60 years in the making.

”I don’t think many people would argue when I say this week has been one of the greatest weeks in Philadelphia history,” said Mayor Jim Kenney, adding that the event mostly ”went off without a hitch.”

Any foul play during the parade was minor, said Police Commissioner Richard Ross, who tallied damage such as four police cars dented by fans climbing on them, two stabbing victims who are expected to survive Mathieu Perreault Jersey , an officer who was assaulted by a woman trying to get onto the parade route and two arrests for assault. People attempting to scale a Jumbotron knocked over the huge video screen.

Maintenance crews worked overnight, picking up trash left behind by fans who watched the team travel in open-top double decker buses from their stadium to the art museum steps made famous in the ”Rocky” movies. Coach Doug Pederson walked part of the 5-mile route while carrying the Lombardi Trophy, allowing fans to touch the gleaming hardware. Center Jason Kelce, wearing what looked like a genie outfit, gave voice to every frustrated Philly fan with an impassioned and profane speech.

”We were a bunch of underdogs,” shouted Kelce, channeling Rocky. ”Bottom line is we wanted it more!”

Thursday’s parade was tame in comparison to impromptu celebration that broke out Sunday after the Eagles’ defeated the New England Patriots 41-33. In the hours after the Super Bowl victory, fans overturned a car, shattered storefront windows Jimmie Ward Jersey , ate horse feces, collapsed a hotel’s awning and hit the police commissioner in the head with a bottle.

Parade organizers prepared for as many as 2 million people.

Crowd safety experts commissioned by The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News put the number at about 700,000, based on an examination of photos of the parade route. But city Emergency Operators Director Dan Bradley said he felt the number was higher than that.

The parade cost is still being calculated, the mayor said.

The celebration apparently let down at least a few fans who took to social media to fume about how an double-length bus stopped directly in front of a section of the crowd just as the parade cruised by. One person wrote that she had waited in the cold for six hours for nothing.

”We’re absolutely sorry that it happened,” says a message posted on the city’s official Twitter account, adding that the bus was carrying police officers. ”A parade of this magnitude is obviously an extremely fluid situation and our first concern is always public safety.”

NEW YORK – There’s no better indicator of the different directions in which the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets are headed than the main topic of conversations following Saturday night’s game Bengals Game Jerseys , when the Dodgers were excited by the return of their Hall of Fame-bound ace and the Mets were pondering if the pitcher with the second-worst ERA in team history would have to start in place of the pitcher with the worst ERA in team history.

The Dodgers will look to complete a sweep of the reeling Mets Sunday afternoon, when the two teams play the finale of a three-game series at Citi Field.

The Dodgers hit a game-breaking grand slam for the second straight game Saturday, when Matt Kemp’s pinch-hit blast off Robert Gsellman in the eighth inning provided insurance and then some in an 8-3 win. On Friday, Cody Bellinger snapped a scoreless tie with a sixth-inning grand slam off Zack Wheeler in a 5-2 victory.

The big news Saturday for the Dodgers (40-35), who have gone 24-9 since May 17, was the return of ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw, who missed the previous three-plus weeks due to a lower back strain. Kershaw allowed two runs in three innings in his first start since May 31.

Manager Dave Roberts said afterward he expected Kershaw to start again on Thursday or Friday.

“To not just have the mindset that I can keep going and know that at some point the plug is going to be pulled, that’s got to be tough for the psyche,” Roberts said of the famously competitive Kershaw. “But I think for me, for us Youth Chris Wagner Jersey , it’s just more of having him out there is such a plus and just a boost for all of our guys.”

If the Mets (31-43), who have lost five straight and are 20-41 since an 11-1 start, are going to get a badly needed boost Sunday, they’ll receive it from an unknown and unlikely source.

Manager Mickey Callaway said Saturday night that Jason Vargas, who was scheduled to start Sunday, will be placed on the disabled list with an injury he suffered while doing conditioning work earlier this week.

Callaway said the Mets have yet to decide who will start.

Right-hander Chris Flexen will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to replace Vargas on the active roster and is a candidate to start.

Vargas is 2-6 with an 8.60 ERA in nine starts this season and has a 9.38 ERA in 11 career starts with the Mets, for whom he also pitched briefly in 2007. Vargas’ ERA is the highest for any Mets pitcher who has thrown at least 40 innings for the team.

The second-highest ERA in Mets history belongs to Flexen, who has an 11.57 ERA in two appearances this season and an 8.05 ERA in 16 games (nine starts) dating back to last season. Flexen last pitched Thursday, when he got the final out of the Mets’ 4-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies before being optioned to Las Vegas.

“We’re going to see when guys come in (and) play catch,” Callaway said. “Our bullpen’s obviously thrown some innings and we’re going to see how everybody’s feeling when they come in (Sunday) and make that decision then.”

Another possibility to draw the start or to pitch extended innings in relief is rookie Tim Peterson.

He last pitched Thursday Viktor Arvidsson Jersey , when he tossed 1 1/3 perfect innings against the Rockies and has a 1.17 ERA in five games. The only other Mets reliever to not pitch Friday or Saturday is closer Jeurys Familia.

Whomever pitches for the Mets will oppose Dodgers left-hander Rich Hill (1-2, 4.99 ERA), who is scheduled to make his second start since coming off the disabled list last Tuesday, when he pitched against the Chicago Cubs.

Hill, who missed a month with a blister on his left middle finger, didn’t factor into the decision after allowing three hits over six scoreless innings in Los Angeles’ 2-1, 10-inning loss.

Hill is 1-2 with an 8.00 ERA in six career games (four starts) against the Mets. Neither Flexen nor Peterson has ever faced the Dodgers.

Alcides Escobar’s streak of making 406 consecutive starts as the Kansas City Royals shortstop is about to end.

Manager Ned Yost said he plans to play Adalberto Mondesi Marlon Humphrey Jersey , 22, a couple of days a week at shortstop. Escobar, 31, has been the Royals everyday shortstop since 2011 after being acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers as part of the Zack Greinke trade.

”Esky’s been our shortstop for a long time,” Yost said Tuesday. ”It’s a pretty big change, seeing someboy different at short, but it’s exciting, too because now you’re starting to give other younger players opportunities to see what they can do.”

Escobar was an American League All-Star starter and Glove Glove winner in 2015, the year the Royals won the World Series.

With the Royals in last place with a 22-50 record entering the game Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, they are looking to the future.

”It’s a good chance to experiment right now,” Yost said. ”There’s nothing that is going to make or break us. You can start looking at things a little bit differently and start experimenting with some things.”

He said he talked to Escobar about his consecutive-game streak, which is the longest active streak in the majors, ending.

”We talked about the streak,” Yost said. ”There will be times he’ll sit. But it’s time to look at Mondi at little bit and move Esky around.”

He said he could play Escobar at play third, second or center field.

”He was excited about the opportuity,” Yost said. ”He’s at a point in his career where it will increase value if he can play multiple positions.”

Escobar played five games, one start in right field, in the outfield in 2010 with the Brewers. He has played 1,355 games at shorstop.

The Royals have already started their youth movement by trading closer Kelvin Herrera to the Washington Nationals on Monday for three prospects and outfielder Jon Jay to the Arizona on June 6 for two minor league pitchers.

The offense that Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez has been waiting for showed up just in time to prevent a sweep at the hands of a division rival Sunday night.

Daniel Murphy’s single drove in the tying and go-ahead runs in the eighth inning and the Nationals rallied past the Philadelphia Phillies 8-6 to salvage the finale of the three-game series.

Anthony Rendon homered and doubled Cheap Customized Detroit Lions Jerseys , Bryce Harper tied a career high with three doubles and Michael A. Taylor and Murphy each had three singles as Washington pounded out 17 hits in a game that was delayed 38 minutes by rain in the bottom of the fourth inning.

”We weren’t scoring very many runs,” Martinez said, ”and for us to come out and compete like we did today and put up eight runs . and just really work very good at-bats, I felt really good for the boys and I know they’ll feed off it.”

Rhys Hoskins and Nick Williams homered for the Phillies, who had won three straight.

Pinch hitter Brian Goodwin led off the eighth with a walk. With one out, right-hander Seranthony Dominguez (1-2) came on to face Harper, who doubled to right, with Goodwin stopping at third.

After Rendon grounded out, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler elected to walk rookie Juan Soto and pitch to the veteran Murphy Nick Vigil Jersey , who began the day hitting .135.

”You pick your poison right there,” Kapler said. ”You have two very good hitters. The first one in Soto has been elite. And Murphy has struggled a little bit. And we went after the guy that was struggling and coming off injury.”

After throwing three 98-mph plus fastballs to get ahead 1-2, Dominguez tried a slider that Murphy lined to shallow right. Taylor’s single made it 8-6.

”I was watching some film on him and he had kind of gone with the slider as a kill shot to a couple lefties, so once I got two strikes I was aware of it,” Murphy said. ”I hadn’t seen it yet, so that’s never any fun, but fortunately I was able to get it in the air enough and kind of scoop it over Cesar (Hernandez’s) head at second base.”

Ryan Madson (2-3) pitched the eighth inning, and Sean Doolittle finished for his 21st save.

The Phillies took a 6-2 lead in the fifth on a two-run triple by Odubel Herrera and a two-run homer by Williams, but the bullpen surrendered six runs.

Washington pulled within a run at 6-5 in the sixth with four two-out hits Authentic Derick Brassard Jersey , including an RBI triple by Trea Turner and RBI doubles by Harper and Rendon.

Rendon has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games is batting .447 (17-for-38) in that span with three homers, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.

The Seattle Mariners have made a habit this year of mounting comebacks Youth Kevin Labanc Jersey , winning by one run and prevailing in extra innings.

They combined all three of those traits in a rousing, drama-filled matchup with the Baltimore Orioles.

Denard Span hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the 11th inning after Kyle Seager delivered a two-run homer in the ninth, and the Mariners pulled out an 8-7 victory Wednesday night.

Playing without injured Nelson Cruz for a second straight game, Seattle got a home run from Ryon Healy and collected 14 hits while improving its record in extra innings to 7-0.

It was the Mariners’ major league-leading 25th one-run victory, and it marked the 16th comeback win in which they have taken the lead in the seventh inning or later.

In this one, Seattle gave up a deflating three-run homer to Chris Davis in the eighth inning before rallying.

”We’ve had some great wins this year. We’ve done a lot of this at home,” manager Scott Servais said. ”To do this on the road, after giving up the big home run in the eighth inning, it’s how we’re wired. We play all 27 outs, guys don’t quit. They figure out and find a way.”

The Mariners came to town having lost six of seven. Now, after winning three straight over the lowly Orioles, they can complete the first four-game road sweep of Baltimore in franchise history.

Seattle has never swept a two-game series in Baltimore, and its last three-game sweep of the Orioles on the road was in 2007.

Cruz has been bothered by a sore lower back, but the Mariners have done just fine without him.

Jean Segura led off the 11th with a double against Mychal Givens (0-5), and Span drove in the go-ahead run with a deep fly to center off Donnie Hart.

Chasen Bradford (5-0) worked the 10th and Edwin Diaz got three outs for his major league-leading 30th save, a club record before the All-Star break. He has earned the save in each game of this series.

”We have stepped up and started playing great baseball,” Diaz said. ”Our defense, hitting and pitching are all doing great. We’re in a good moment right now.”

The Orioles trailed 5-4 in the eighth inning before Davis interrupted his season-long slump with a shot off Alex Colome. The drive, on a 3-1 pitch, soared onto Eutaw Street far beyond the right-field wall.

Davis entered the game with a .147 batting average, and on Friday returned from an eight-game hiatus in which he worked to get his swing back. This was his second home run since coming back, and it produced a rare feel-good moment for a struggling team and its belabored slugger.

Then, in the Seattle ninth, Mitch Haniger singled off Zach Britton and Seager delivered his 15th home run and second in two nights.

Britton, who has pitched in only eight games this season after returning from surgery on a torn Achilles tendon, said, ”I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I didn’t want it to be like this, but it is what it is and I’ve just got to push through it.”

Much earlier, Seattle made up deficits of 2-0 and 4-2 to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning against Alex Cobb.

Baltimore has lost four in a row overall and 14 of 15 at home.

DO THE HUSTLE

Orioles shortstop Manny Machado heard some boos Tuesday night when he trotted to first base after hitting into a 4-6-3 double play.

Manager Buck Showalter promised the matter would be addressed, and he did so on Wednesday.

”He’s better than that,” Showalter said. ”It’s a really bad presentation, and he knows that. The toughest thing about it is that it’s a poor presentation of what he’s really about.”

ALL-STAR ENDORSEMENT

Machado leads AL shortstops in fan voting for the All-Star Game, but Servais believes Jean Segura is playing well enough to be a backup.

”There are a lot of good shortstops out there, but our guy ranks top five in almost every statistical category,” Servais insisted.

Segura is batting .338 with 44 RBIs. He’s got nine errors but has displayed exceptional range.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Mariners: Servais says Cruz ”is moving in the right direction” and could return Thursday.

Orioles: RHP Darren O’Day (hamstring) and OF Craig Gentry (rib fracture) were placed on the 10-day disabled list.

UP NEXT

Mariners: Mike Leake (8-4, 4.11 ERA) gets his 17th start in the series finale.

Orioles: Recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Jimmy Yacabonis will make his first major league start Thursday in place of injured Dylan Bundy.

Cowboys center Travis Frederick‘s been dealing with recurring stingers this summer and he went to see a specialist while the team was in California to see what was wrong with his neck.

Frederick was reportedly told to rest in order to let inflammation go down Alex Burmistrov Jersey , but he went for another opinion in Dallas on Monday with coach Jason Garrett saying that Frederick might move onto a third as the week unfolds. That might not be necessary if Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ update on the center is correct.

“He had a good day yesterday,” Jones said during a Tuesday appearance on 105.3 The Fan, via the Dallas Morning News. “[The results] were positive for the future.”

Joe Looney has been filling in for Frederick, but Jones added that he expects Frederick to be ready for Week One. Jones said the same is true of right guard Zack Martin, who suffered a knee injury last Saturday.
Ross Stripling pitched another gem and Justin Turner drove in two runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Angels on Saturday night.

Stripling (7-2) is making a strong case to make the NL All-Star team with another terrific outing. He allowed just one run and three hits – all by Mike Trout – in six innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked none, and lowered his ERA to 2.14.

After blowing a save opportunity on Friday night, Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 24th save.

The 28-year-old Stripling retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced for the Dodgers http://www.jetsauthorizedshops.com/auth … don-jersey , who have won five of their last six games.

Trout went 3 for 3 against Stripling, including a solo home run to left-center field in the sixth inning for his 25th of the season and 50th RBI. Trout, who finished 3 for 4 overall in his 11th three-hit game of the season, is now 5 for 5 with two home runs in his career against Stripling.

The Angels’ Shohei Ohtani fouled a ball off what appeared to be his right foot in the ninth during his at-bat against Jansen. After a trainer, interpreter and Mike Scioscia went to check on him, he stayed in the game and struck out – but hobbled back to the dugout.

Turner hit a two-out single in the fifth inning off Taylor Cole (0-1) to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

Yasiel Puig hit a two-out, solo home run to center field off Noe Ramirez in the ninth to put the Dodgers ahead 3-1.

Deck McGuire made his second start for the Angels. He allowed one hit and struck out six in three innings in his first career appearance against the Dodgers.

In the fourth inning Jets Elite Jerseys , reliever Jose Alvarez got Cody Bellinger and Matt Kemp to ground out, but then walked Yasmani Grandal and was pulled in favor of Cole.

Dave Roberts expects him to make a start next weekend against the Angels.

Angels: LHP Tyler Skaggs (right adductor strain) will throw a bullpen this weekend. … RHP Jim Johnson (lumbar strain) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment at Class A Inland Empire on Sunday.

President Donald Trump praised an NFL policy banning kneeling during the "The Star-Spangled Banner http://www.dolphinsauthorizedshops.com/ … son-jersey ," saying that "maybe you shouldn't be in the country" if you don't stand for the anthem.

Trump spoke to "Fox & Friends" in an interview that aired Thursday. The policy forbids players from sitting or taking a knee on the field during the anthem but allows them to stay in the locker room. Any violations of the new rules would result in fines against teams.

"I think that's good," Trump said in the interview that taped Wednesday. "I don't think people should be staying in the locker rooms, but still I think it's good. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem. Or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country."

Trump told confidants Wednesday that he was thrilled with the NFL's new policy, believing it vindicated his move last fall to call out the players who kneeled while suggesting that he planned to call attention to it again when the season starts in September, just months before the midterm elections, according to a person familiar with the president's conversations but not authorized to discuss them privately.

Trump first seized upon the issue last September when called on team owners to fire players who followed former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's lead by kneeling during the national anthem. During a September rally, he referred to an NFL player making a gesture during "The Star-Spangled Banner" as a "son of a bitch" who should be fired.

The president's comments spurred a national conversation about patriotism and the nation's symbols and the use of peaceful protest. Trump, meanwhile, told Republican allies that he thought the culture war issue was good for his base even as he received some criticism for seemingly being more focused on the anthem flap last fall than the government's response to a deadly hurricane in Puerto Rico.

Trump said in the Fox interview that he thought "the people" pushed for the new policy.

"I brought it out. I think the people pushed it forward," Trump said. He added: "you know, that's something ideally could have been taken care of when it first started, it would have been a lot easier Youth Dustin Byfuglien Jersey , but if they did that, they did the right thing."

LOS ANGELES — The Pittsburgh Pirates headed north by bus Sunday evening to see if the roller-coaster ride will continue.

Fresh off a series victory at San Diego, capped by a 7-5 victory Sunday, the Pirates are now in Los Angeles for the first of three games Monday, having won four of their last six games.

That winning run came after a five-game losing streak. The five games before that? The Pirates won four of them.

The Dodgers have been a bit steadier of late, going 17-9 in June to keep pace with the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West. But the end of June was a bit of a struggle as the Dodgers lost four of their last five before the calendar flipped. They opened July with a 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Not only did the Dodgers’ offense take off in June, to the tune of 55 home runs to set a franchise record for a month, the pitching staff got healthy again … literally.

Alex Wood (4-5, 4.00 ERA) will take the mound Monday, looking and feeling much better after nagging leg cramps early in the year.

Wood went seven innings against the Chicago Cubs in his last outing Wednesday, his longest start since his season debut on March 30 when he worked eight innings against the San Francisco Giants.

An All-Star for the first time last season, Wood is once again starting to look like the pitcher who can rise to the occasion on a nightly basis.

“I’m still looking for consistency out of my sinker, but the breaking ball was a lot better Authentic Richard Rodgers Jersey ,” Wood told reporters after his most recent start. “Overall, it was pretty good.”

The Dodgers also have Clayton Kershaw back recently from a lower back injury and Rich Hill returned from a blister on his left middle finger. Both left-handers will face the Pirates this week.

Pittsburgh announced Sunday that Nick Kingham (2-3, 3.82) will start the series opener at Dodger Stadium. He will take the spot of Chad Kuhl, who is on the DL with a forearm strain.

The Pirates (40-43) know that getting some length on their current winning ways can get them to .500 soon, possibly by the All-Star break that starts in two weeks.

“We’re starting to show a little bit of resiliency here the last week or so,” Pirates infielder Josh Harrison said, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “A team that (is) not making any excuses, which is refreshing because at the end of the day we know what we have to do and that’s come to show up every day.

“It’s been some ups and downs, but every team goes through ups and downs, and a lot of guys here are riding that wave of knowing that any day can be that day that we turn it around.”

Wood is 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Pirates. He has not faced Pittsburgh since last season. Kingham, a rookie, has not pitched against the Dodgers in any of his first six appearances.

Josh Cribbs has pulled off another stunning return.

A three-time Pro Bowler during eight seasons returning kicks for the Browns Victor Hedman Jersey , Cribbs is joining Cleveland’s coaching staff as a special teams intern.

Cribbs was a threat to score any time he lined up deep for a kickoff or punt, and he’ll now give some of his expertise to young, impressionable Cleveland players.

”I’ve earned their respect already as a player. Now I get to earn their respect as a coach,” Cribbs said. ”I pour into them all the knowledge I have to make them successful and make them do the things I did. I have this burning desire to be around football, to get back in the game. This is the closest way I can be around football, to still make an impact in the NFL. What better team for me to make an impact than the Cleveland Browns?”

Cribbs accepted the internship about a month ago from coach Hue Jackson. He’s working under new Browns special teams coordinator Amos Jones Womens Tom Pyatt Jersey , who is showing him the coaching ropes.

He has quickly learned that coaching is as demanding as playing.

”It’s a lot of time involved, a lot of hours and not everyone is cut out for it,” Cribbs said. ”Not that they can’t coach, but everybody is not cut out for the hours and the time it takes to put into coaching. That was one of the main important things in my discussion with Hue. He said, `Hey, look down in three months and you figure it’s not for you Derrick Henry Jersey Big , no hard feelings, we still love you. Coaching’s not for everybody.”

An undrafted quarterback out of Kent State, Cribbs became one of the NFL’s most dynamic and dangerous returners. He also played one season each for the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. Cribbs last played in 2014 and had considered a comeback before officially retiring last year.

Cribbs shares the league record with eight kickoff return touchdowns.

He had hoped to land an assistant’s job on Jackson’s staff, but when that opening was filled, he accepted the internship – starting from the bottom, just as he did as a player.

”I wanted to do everything I could to put him in position where he could be successful Jakob Silfverberg Jersey ,” said Jackson, who is 1-31 in two seasons with the Browns. ”He was very open to it and we made a decision of, `Let’s start on the ground floor and work our way up.’ His reputation precedes itself. He was one of the best return guys in pro football. Plus he’s a Cleveland Brown. He’s one of our own. He told me over a phone call that he had a tremendous passion to get the organization back to winning and that means something to me.

”We’ve had several other (former players) reach out, but this ended up being the right fit at the right time for us.”

Many former NFL cheerleaders have filed lawsuits in recent years regarding the alleged failure of teams to pay fair and proper wages. And NFL teams nevertheless allegedly continue to fail to pay fair and proper wages to cheerleaders.

Via the Associated Press, former Cowboys cheerleader Erica Wilkins has filed suit seeking聽“unpaid overtime wages, minimum wages Jonathan Marchessault Jersey , and all other available damages” for the period covering 2014 through 2017.

The lawsuit also alleges that聽Wilkins had a standard pay rate of $8 per hours, and that the team’s male mascot made $25 per hour.

In other cases filed by cheerleaders against other NFL teams, the deficiencies often arose from cheerleaders not being paid for time that technically constitutes work, and from not being paid time-and-a-half for work hours in excess of 40 per week. Making the claims against the Cowboys more surprising is the fact that the Cowboys and all teams have been placed on notice for several years that some teams have failed to properly compensate these employees.

NAPA Jacob Markstrom Jersey , Calif. (AP) — As he squares off against first-round draft pick Kolton Miller almost daily in training camp, Oakland Raiders rookie defensive end Arden Key rarely uses the same move twice.

On one play, Key takes a jab-step inside then spins around to Miller’s outside shoulder and speeds past the big left tackle. A few moments later, Key bull-rushes his way between Miller and another offensive lineman with little resistance.

It’s not an indictment of Miller so much as it is a credit to Key, the Raiders’ third-round draft pick who has been one of the early stars in training camp.

“We love Key,” Oakland coach Jon Gruden said Monday. “We’ve liked Key ever since the draft process. We felt lucky to get him where we got him. There’s some things this kid can do that are very special. Hopefully, we get full strength someday at the defensive end position and we can show our true colors.”

Gruden was referring to defensive end Khalil Mack, who is entering the final year of his contract and is holding out for a new deal.

Mack, the 2016 defensive player of the year Youth Christian Djoos Jersey , has been the Raiders’ best pass-rusher for the past four seasons. In hopes of giving him some help up front, the team used three of it first six draft picks to acquire Key along with defensive tackles P.J. Hall (second round) and Maurice Hurst (fifth round).

Oakland also moved Bruce Irvin from outside linebacker to right defensive end, the same position as Key. The two men formed a close bond, with Irvin serving as a mentor to Key.

Irvin compares Key to Aldon Smith, the talented but troubled former Raiders linebacker who had 33 ½ sacks in his first two NFL seasons before off-field issues forced him out of the league.

Like Smith, Key wears jersey No. 99.

“He’s a really natural rusher,” Irvin said. “He reminds me a lot of the old 99 that was here. If he keeps his head on straight, which he will, he’s going to be a hell of a player and a hell of a player for the Raiders. Can’t wait to see what he’s going to do this year.”

Irvin is among a number of Oakland players and coaches who have repeatedly praised Key during camp.

The 22-year-old has tried to keep it all in perspective. Key buries his head in the playbook and has been pouring over film of other pass-rushers Womens Charlie McAvoy Jersey , trying to find new tricks to add to his arsenal of pass-rush moves.

“I look at a lot of pass-rushers to try to steal some of their moves and try them in one-on-one,” Key said. “If it works it works and if I like it, it’s going to stick with me.”

Getting around an offensive tackle, Key said, is much like a chess match.

“I always work on one move first and see if he beats it,” Key said. “If he beats that then I’m going to counter with something else. If he beats my counter move then I’ve got to counter with another counter.”

The Raiders have also had Key lining up in the three-technique over a guard, giving the defense more speed for the interior rush.

“He’s a stud, I’ll put it that way,” linebacker Tahir Whitehead said. “He’s big Bryan Little Jersey , he’s strong, he’s athletic. He can go inside, he can go outside. I’m excited to see him go out there in the first game and let it rip.”

As for his ongoing battles against Miller, Key said the competition has been heating up between the two rookies.

“Kolton gets better every day,” Key said. “From the first day we went against each to now, it’s just gotten so much better. Now I have to dig in my tool box to try to pick different moves to use on him.”

Notes: The Raiders will host two joint practices with the Detroit Lions beginning Tuesday. . RB DeAndre Washington has left the team for personal reasons but is expected back soon. . The team waived defensive back Shaquille Richardson and signed cornerback Raysean Pringle. . Gavin Newsome, a candidate for California governor, attended practice and chatted with owner Mark Davis.

The Latest on the canceled White House visit for the Super Bowl champion Eagles (all times local):

4 p.m.

Eagles players and officials made individual decisions to not go to the White House for a scheduled celebration of their Super Bowl title, leaving two players actually planning to make the trip to Washington before the visit was canceled by President Donald Trump Authentic Dougie Hamilton Jersey , according to players and a person familiar with the arrangements.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because of the sensitivity of the issues.

All-Pro center Jason Kelce said players filled out forms anonymously indicating whether they wanted to go to the White House, not make the trip or go to Washington and do something else.

The players did not urge a collective decision on what to do as a team, giving each player his own option of whether to take the trip.

Defensive end Chris Long, who skipped the trip last year with the New England Patriots and wasn’t planning to go again, said he hopes athletes on championship teams in all sports won’t have to make the decision in a couple years when Trump’s term is up.

11 a.m.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson says he was looking forward to going to the White House to be recognized as Super Bowl champions but he wouldn’t further discuss a visit that was canceled by President Donald Trump.

Pederson spoke to reporters for about eight minutes on Wednesday before the team held one of its scheduled practices and repeatedly made clear he didn’t want to discuss details of the trip’s breakdown. He declined to provide information on how things escalated to the White House accusing players of abandoning their fans by deciding to not attend.

Trump rescinded his invitation late Monday and instead turned the ceremony for the Eagles on Tuesday into his own brief ”Celebration of America” after it became clear most players weren’t going to show up. Trump tied the dispute to his criticism of players who have kneeled during the national anthem to protest racism and police brutality, even though no Eagles players kneeled for the song during the 2017 season.

Pederson says the team is united and plans to move on from the issue.

The Jacksonville Jaguars might have lost their No. 1 receiver for the season.

Marqise Lee Dmitry Kulikov Jersey , who led the team in receptions in 2017, injured his left knee in a 17-6 victory against Atlanta in the preseason Saturday night and could be out for the year.

Lee was carted off the field in the first quarter after Falcons cornerback Damontae Kazee went helmet-first into his knee and then twisted his leg. Lee fumbled on the play, but it was overturned because Kazee was flagged for leading with his helmet.

Coach Doug Marrone said "obviously it looked bad," adding that Lee will have tests Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. Teammates sounded resigned to Lee being sidelined an extended period, maybe even the entire season.

"That's tough," Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles said. "You hate to see anytime, especially in the preseason, and to a guy like that who's been through what he's been through and plays with the passion that he does, and everything that he's put into this team and getting ready for this season. ... It's tough to see."

Lee was clearly in pain as he got helped onto the cart. Teammates and coaches walked across the field to offer well-wishes as he left the field.

It was the kind of preseason injury that leaves everyone on both sidelines shaking their heads.

"At the end of the day, we've got to come together as a team, as a unit and pick up where he left off," fellow receiver Dede Westbrook said.

"Everybody's got to step up Youth Jake McCabe Jersey ," Jaguars receiver Donte Moncrief added. "Everybody in the room's got to be ready to go, from the young guys to me. He was one of the big roles in the offense."

Lee had 56 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns last season. He signed a four-year, $34 million contract in March that included $16.5 million guaranteed.

A second-round draft pick from USC in 2014, Lee has 171 catches for 2,166 yards and eight touchdowns. He missed games because of various injuries in three of his four seasons.

If Lee misses time this fall, the Jaguars would rely on second-year pros Keelan Cole and Westbrook, one-year rental Moncrief and rookie DJ Chark.

WINLESS FALCONS

Atlanta managed 96 yards in the first half and 261 for the game. The Falcons have lost all three preseason games.

Matt Ryan completed 5 of 12 passes for 57 yards. Tevin Coleman ran seven times for 38 yards, with 22 of those coming on one scamper.

"When you're going against a good defense, that's how the game is going to shake out," Ryan said. "You're going to have your opportunities at times to make plays. I don't think we came away with all of them, but we certainly made some good ones as well."

The bright spots for Atlanta were two interceptions against Blake Bortles, who played into the third quarter and finished 17 of 23 for 204 yards. Bortles was picked once on a tipped ball and another on a pass that sailed wide of a receiver.

ANTHEM PROTEST

Jaguars All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl linebacker Telvin Smith remained in the locker room during the national anthem. Smith has skipped the anthem in each of the team's three preseason games. Ramsey was suspended for last week's exhibition at Minnesota Womens Kevin White Jersey , not for anything related to the anthem.

PRESEASON DEBUT

Falcons placekicker Matt Bryant made his preseason debut after sitting out the first two games with an undisclosed injury. The 43-year-old Bryant drilled a 47-yard field goal to cap the opening drive and later added a 33-yarder.

The Jaguars had two players make their preseason debut. 2017 All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell (calf) and defensive lineman Taven Bryan (abdomen), a first-round pick from Florida, missed the first two exhibitions. Bryan's best play was batting down a pass in the closing minutes.

SITTING OUT

Receiver Marvin Hall, guard Ben Garland, cornerback Desmond Trufant, safety Ricardo Allen and linebacker Deion Jones sat out for Atlanta with minor injuries.

The Jaguars were without six players: cornerback A.J. Bouye (illness), center Brandon Linder (knee), safety Ronnie Harrison (hamstring), linebacker Donald Payne (hip), defensive tackle Eli Ankou (knee) and defensive end Dawuane Smoot (foot).

UP NEXT

Atlanta hosts Miami to end the preseason Thursday.

Jacksonville plays at Tampa Bay on Thursday.

Another series, another opponent sitting at the top of its division.

That’s the scenario for the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend as they welcome the Atlanta Braves, who lead the National League East Ivan Provorov Jersey , for a three-game series at Busch Stadium starting Friday.

And Atlanta (45-34) will be a stronger team offensively for the series. Prized rookie outfielder Ronald Acuna will be activated off the 10-day disabled list for Friday night’s game and should slot right into the lineup.

The 21-year-old Acuna, who missed a month with a right knee injury suffered on May 27 in Boston, hit .265 with five homers and 13 RBIs in his first 117 big league at-bats. Acuna recorded a solid .779 OPS, although his 10 walks and 37 strikeouts suggests he needs to gain a bit more control of the strike zone.

Acuna’s return at least tempers worries about the status of center fielder Ender Inciarte, who left Wednesday’s 6-5 loss to Cincinnati when he felt discomfort near his left oblique. Should Inciarte have to miss any time, Acuna could bat near the top of the lineup.

The Braves missed a chance to extend their division lead during a six-game homestand against two last-place teams. They lost two of three to Baltimore, which has the worst record in baseball, and dropped two of three to Cincinnati, which isn’t playing like a last-place team at the moment with nine wins in 10 games.

“We didn’t play up to our capabilities 100 percent,” Atlanta starting pitcher Sean Newcomb said to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “You’re not going to every day. I know we’re going to come back out at St. Louis and be pretty strong, pitching and offensively.”

The Braves will have to be strong to deal with Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas (8-2, 2.69 ERA) Nick Jensen Jersey , who has been one of baseball’s best free-agent finds this year. Signed after three successful years in Japan, Mikolas has put together an All-Star resume with St. Louis.

He is coming off a 3-2 win Saturday in Milwaukee, giving up only three hits and two runs to the NL Central leaders in a 6 2/3-inning effort. Mikolas walked two and fanned five, giving him 71 strikeouts and just 12 walks in 97 innings.

Mikolas has faced Atlanta just once in his career, throwing two shutout innings in relief six years ago when he pitched for San Diego.

Julio Teheran (5-5, 4.52) will continue a season-long search for consistency as he starts for the Braves. After tossing six no-hit innings on June 17 in a win over San Diego, Teheran was belted around Saturday for seven runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings of a 7-5 loss to Baltimore.

The veteran right-hander has made five career starts against the Cardinals, going 1-3 with a 3.86 earned run average. Two players who have hurt him are Matt Carpenter, who is 6-for-12 with two homers, and Marcell Ozuna, who is batting .405 with three homers in 42 career at-bats against Teheran.

St. Louis (42-37) had a four-game winning streak snapped Wednesday with a 5-1 loss to Cleveland.

Chiefs linebacker Reggie Ragland was in swaddling blankets the previous time Kansas City won a home playoff game.

It was January 1994 Womens Josh Norman Jersey , Joe Montana was the quarterback and the Chiefs beat the Steelers on an overtime field goal by Nick Lowery to advance.

And it’s hard to believe anybody packed inside Arrowhead Stadium that day imagined a quarter century would pass without another home playoff win.

”It would be nice to break that,” Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said, ”but you can’t add any extra motivation once you get to this stage. This is all the work we’ve been putting in as this team from day-one – this team. When we were putting in our goals and talking about that.

”It’s tough to add any more motivation with historic streaks or things like that.”

Besides, the Titans (9-7) are trying to end their own maddening stretch of playoff futility.

Tennessee rumbles into Kansas City for the wild-card round Saturday in its first postseason trip since 2008, when the Titans were the AFC’s top seed.

If they can waltz out with a win, as they did in 2016, it would be their first playoff victory since January 2004.

”It’s playoff time,” Titans safety Kevin Byard said. ”I dream about … matchups, about going up against guys like (Travis) Kelce and going up against Andy Reid, a Hall of Fame-level coach. He’s a great coach. And going into Arrowhead Stadium Alexander Kerfoot Jersey , one of the louder stadiums, I don’t think there’s better you can ask for in the first week of the playoffs.”

Indeed, there are story lines galore in a game that could be overshadowed by higher-profile matchups, or perhaps overlooked because of the Chiefs’ midseason swoon and the Titans’ late-season slump.

Smith is trying to validate the best season of his career in what could be his final game for the Chiefs (10-6). Hill is hoping to show off his world-class speed on a national stage.

And running back Kareem Hunt, who won the NFL rushing title this season, will have a chance to etch his name alongside the likes of Todd Gurley and Le’Veon Bell as one of the league’s best.

”If you lose, you go home,” Hunt said simply. ”Everybody is giving their all not to go home.”

On the flip side, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota will try to rewrite the story of an up-and-down season with his playoff debut. Running back Derrick Henry and his supporting cast will help. And embattled coach Mike Mularkey will try to prove he was the right man for the job all along.

”The intensity and everything goes up when you get to this point,” Mularkey said.

As the Titans prepare to visit the Chiefs Roberto Luongo Jersey , here are a few more story lines to watch:

DEEP THREAT: The Chiefs lost kick returner Akeem Hunt to an injury last weekend against Denver, and special teams coach Dave Toub said Hill could return against the Titans. The speedster was taken off that particular duty this season to keep him fresher for the offense.

Toub was asked what the Chiefs lost in that sacrifice. ”Maybe two touchdowns,” he said flatly.

SPEAKING OF SPECIAL TEAMS: The Titans beat the Chiefs 19-17 in December 2016 on a game-ending field goal by Ryan Succop, who had spent most of his career with Kansas City. Succop came up short on his first attempt at the 53-yarder, but Reid had called timeout just before to give him another shot.

Succop made the mulligan for a victory in the coldest game in franchise history.

MARIOTA’S MOMENT: The Titans’ young quarterback had struggled down the stretch, when they lost three straight to fall off the playoff pace.

But while his numbers against Jacksonville last week to help clinch a postseason berth were modest, several teammates said Mariota got his swagger back.

”It was just me being me,” he said. ”Again, I’m going to do whatever it takes to win. This is the time in the season when you’ve just got to lay it all on the line.”

WATCH FOR FLAGS: The Chiefs were among the most penalized teams in the NFL this season, getting flagged 118 teams. The Titans were the second-best in the league Alex Ovechkin Jersey Kids , drawing just 85 penalties – second-fewest in franchise history for a 16-game season. In a playoff game with razor-thin margins, penalties could be the difference between winning and losing.

ARROWHEAD MYSTIQUE: The weather should be in the 40s for kickoff Saturday, or about 40 degrees warmer than when these teams met last season.

That should make it more comfortable for players, but also fans that will be plenty lubricated from their tailgates by the late afternoon kickoff.

”There’s nothing like Arrowhead Stadium when that place is packed,” Reid said, ”and it’s a little cold and the ground is shaking a little bit. It doesn’t get any better.”

Browns owner Dee Haslam is stepping down as the CEO of her media company to focus more on the NFL franchise and community work in Cleveland.

RIVR Media, which is based in Knoxville, Tennessee, and co-founded by Haslam, announced that Rob Lundgren will become CEO.

Haslam intends to stay on as a partner and executive producer for the company Youth Derek Stepan Jersey , which has produced more than 3,000 episodes for 21 different networks. RIVR is credited with the cable hit "Trading Spaces," and other shows.

Haslam's role has expanded in recent years with the Browns, which she bought with her husband Jimmy in 2012.

"Television production has been a lifelong passion and I have taken great pride in building RIVR Media," she said in a release.

"We love creatively bringing exceptional stories to life to engage viewers around the world. While I may transition roles, I will remain involved and committed to our consistent production of entertaining and unique content and am excited to see how we continue to evolve."

We are entering the silly season. Year after year we work ourselves up into a tizzy over all the potential blockbuster trades we will see approaching the NHL trade deadline. Yet Justin Williams Jersey , year after year, NHL General Managers fail to live up to the craziness we routinely saw in the pre-salary cap era. Now, it seems the bigger trade day might be the NHL draft, when GMs often unload big ticket names in an effort to jumpstart a rebuild or avoid a year of agonizing trade negotiations with a player who is approaching free agency. The cap itself is a big restriction on trades, as is the parity of the league. More teams think they have a chance of making the playoffs than ever, so come late February, they are loathe to trade off their best players, thus signalling to their fans that the season is over. And then of course there are no-trade clauses (NTCs) and no-movement clauses (NMCs) that put more power in the hands of players than the GMs.

This year http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-aut … ord-jersey , though, this year things will be different. And they might actually be. There are a couple big name players facing free agency both in this offseason and the next, and this could precipitate a trade frenzy. The tendency in recent years has been for big ticket players to re-sign with the teams that drafted them, but there are a few reasons why that may not the case this year. And big trades are like dominoes. Once one happens, a few others tend to fall in line shortly after. So here are eight trades we might well see by the trade deadline and another eight that seem likely ahead of the draft in June.
Coach Sean McDermott believes the Buffalo Bills gained something from enduring their second-most lopsided loss in franchise history.

And he's not yet ready to make a change at quarterback.

After making the playoffs for the first time in 17 seasons last year, the Bills have serious issues after Sunday's 47-3 loss at Baltimore.

On Monday, McDermott praised his team's effort and intensity in the opener, while acknowledging the Bills need to perform better in all areas.

"We'll learn from that tape Womens Devante Smith-Pelly Jersey ," McDermott said. "I'm convinced of that."

McDermott declined to indicate whether he will make a switch at quarterback from opening day starter Nathan Peterman to rookie Josh Allen for Sunday's home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

"We're going to continue to evaluate where we are, dotting the I's and crossing the T's, and taking it one step at a time," McDermott said.

Peterman barely made it out of the third quarter in his third career start. He was 5 of 18 passing for 24 yards with two interceptions and a quarterback rating of 0.0 before getting pulled with the Bills trailing 40-0. The Bills did not gain a first down in the first half with Peterman at quarterback.

"This is a quarterback-driven league and I thought there were times where we did some things that were on target, and some times where we weren't on target," McDermott said. "We have to get better in every area at what we are doing, not just the quarterback position."

Peterman won the preseason competition with Allen, the quarterback Buffalo traded up to draft seventh overall out of Wyoming Womens Joey Bosa Jersey , and veteran AJ McCarron, who has since been traded to the Raiders.

If Peterman hangs on to the starting job, he'll have to face the Chargers defense that intercepted him five times in the first half of his first career start last November.

McDermott's decision to bench starter Tyrod Taylor in favor of Peterman last year nearly derailed the Bills' season after a promising start. But Taylor rallied the Bills to a 9-7 finish and they beat out the Ravens for the final AFC playoff spot.

"You saw what we did with some of those moments last year," McDermott said. "We learned from those and I'm convinced and confident that our team will continue to learn from this experience."

Taylor was traded to Cleveland in the offseason to clear the way for the Bills' young quarterbacks.

Allen was marginally better than Peterman against the Ravens. He completed 6 of 15 passes for 74 yards, ran for 26 yards and guided the Bills on their only scoring drive.

McDermott has repeated throughout the preseason that the Bills wish to take a patient approach in developing Allen.

"There's a lot of things that go into that decision," McDermott said. "It's not just as simple as some might think. There's a lot of hands in that jar."

Buffalo's rebuilt offensive line struggled to protect either quarterback, allowing six sacks.

The Bills' 153 yards were the fewest they've had in a game since gaining 145 in a 40-7 loss at Chicago on Oct. 8, 2006.

The Bills gave up touchdowns on all six of the Ravens' drives into the red zone. They allowed 26 first-half points Brady Skjei Jersey , more than they allowed in the first half of all but one game last season, trailing only the 37 points allowed in the loss to the Chargers.

"That's part of the journey on the way to success," McDermott said. "It's never a straight line. It's never as clean as people think it is, and it's something that we have to continue to work through."

SEATTLE (AP) — Andrew Luck could feel the pressure building as he prepared for his first game action with Indianapolis since the final week of the 2016 season.

When he let go of trying to contain his excitement Authentic Todd Gurley Jersey , the pressure was released.

“I really enjoyed it. I didn’t quite know I’d have this much fun getting practice again. I didn’t know I’d have this much fun even playing football,” Luck said. “It’s a preseason game, I’m not going to blow anything out of proportion, but it’s still a game, a chance to go up against another color jersey. It was a fun step along the way.”

Luck was back under center, leading Indianapolis on a pair of field-goal drives in just over a quarter in the Colts’ 19-17 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.

The reintroduction of Luck as the Colts’ leader started with a 17-yard swing pass to Marlon Mack on the first play. It concluded early in the second quarter when his pass intended for T.Y. Hilton was broken up. In between, Luck was bear-hugged by Seattle All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner on a scramble run, sacked by Rasheem Green, and also showed flashes his surgically repaired right shoulder is ready to allow him to again be a premier quarterback.

Luck completed 6 of 9 passes for 64 yards, most of that coming on the opening drive when he hit 5 of 7. Luck completed passes to five receivers and threw from a clean pocket on most of his dropbacks, even with starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo not playing.

It had been nearly 600 days since Luck was last on the field, when he threw for 321 yards in a 24-20 win over Jacksonville on Jan. 1, 2017. For one night, Luck looked like his pre-surgery form.

“He just kept saying how excited he was and right before he went out he said ‘There’s a lot of emotions right now let’s see if I can control them,'” Indianapolis coach Frank Reich said. “It was almost like he was saying, ‘I’m going to need to control how I’m feeling, because I’m pretty jacked up.’ And he came out in the first drive and handled it like we expected.”

Adam Vinatieri made field goals of 33, 51 and 45 yards in the first half, and Michael Badgley’s 34-yarder late in the third quarter gave Indianapolis a 12-10 lead. Phillip Walker added a 10-yard TD pass to Darrell Daniels early in the fourth quarter.

Luck’s counterpart from the 2012 draft Authentic Justin Bailey Jersey , Russell Wilson, played one series for Seattle. Wilson was 4 of 5 for 43 yards and capped his only drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Nick Vannett. It was Wilson’s first action playing in the offense of new coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, which will be heavily tilted toward the run. Second-year running back Chris Carson averaged 6.5 yards per carry in limited action.

Seattle’s defense scored with 3:15 left when an errant snap was recovered by Joey Ivie for a touchdown.

NATIONAL ANTHEM

Three Seattle players ran into the team’s locker room prior to the national anthem.

Defensive linemen Branden Jackson and Quinton Jefferson, and offensive lineman Duane Brown left the field following team introductions and before the start of the anthem. They returned to the sideline immediately after it concluded. All three were among a group of Seattle players that sat during the anthem last season.

Brown and Jefferson said they intend to continue the action all season.

“The team was aware of everyone’s emotions and feelings going forward and we’re all supportive of each other,” Brown said.

There were no other actions by either Seattle or Indianapolis players during the performance of the anthem.

EJECTION

Indianapolis safety Shamarko Thomas was ejected late in the fourth quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Seattle wide receiver David Moore.

SHAQUEM’S DEBUT

Seattle rookie linebacker Shaquem Griffin was all over the field in his debut. Griffin led Seattle with nine tackles, flashing the speed that made him a star in college. But he was also bullied on one play when Indianapolis tight end Jack Doyle used his size to create separation from Griffin on contact and made a 9-yard reception from Luck.

“It felt good to kind of get out there and get your feet wet and kind of get some hits in,” Griffin said. “I know the way the league works you don’t really get a chance to really tackle too much so to kind of get out there and get a few tackles in.”

INJURY REPORT

The most significant injury was Mack leaving late in the first quarter with a hamstring issue. Mack had four carries and two receptions in the first quarter. He wasn’t likely to get much more action, but is still a concern going forward. Indianapolis coach Frank Reich didn’t have any more of an update postgame.

Seattle backup offensive tackle Isaiah Battle limped off the field with a sprained knee in the third quarter, but Seattle coach Pete Carroll said it didn’t appear severe. Battle had been gaining on Germain Ifedi for the starting right tackle spot. Rookie tackle Jamarco Jones also had to be carted off in the fourth quarter after injuring his left ankle. Carroll said X-rays were negative but it was a significant sprain.

Indianapolis also lost wide receivers James Wright and Deon Cain to knee injuries during the game.

NEXT UP

Colts: Indianapolis returns home to host Baltimore on Aug. 20.

Seahawks: Seattle will travel to the Los Angeles Chargers on Aug. 18.

For many fantasy football players, average draft position, or ADP, give a good barometer of when certain players may be picked — a useful planning tool for draft day.

But ADP should be treated as a loose, not rigid, guide to what to fully expect. Every draft is different and ADP doesn’t always fully reflect a player’s true value, as many drafters in the mainstream are not as fully informed as more savvy players. Here are some players who are being overvalued or undervalued based on their current ADP as compiled by FantasyPros in point-per-reception leagues.

OVERDRAFTED

Jerick McKinnon, RB, San Francisco (25th overall): There are very high expectations for McKinnon in a 49ers offense that is stirring a lot of buzz. While he is versatile and fast, McKinnon may not be built for heavy featured-back duty at 5-9, 205. He already has a knee injury that will cost him the rest of the preseason Authentic Jordan Eberle Jersey , and when Matt Breida returns from a shoulder injury, he may cut into McKinnon’s workload, too. Picking McKinnon early in the third round is not advised, even if you totally miss out on acquiring him.

Rex Burkhead, RB, New England (71): Experienced fantasy players know you can never fully trust a New England running back. Word recently came out that Burkhead is trying to play through a minor tear in his knee. Health and workload concerns lead to regular concerns and no upside, so avoid Burkhead this season.

Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver (41): The widespread assumption is that Case Keenum is going to revive the Denver passing game and that Thomas’ numbers will rebound accordingly. But Keenum must prove he is no one-year wonder who may revert to looking like a journeyman after leaving Minnesota. The Broncos may also be concerned that Thomas’ best days are behind him, as they drafted Courtland Sutton as their possible next big playmaker.

Brandin Cooks, WR, Los Angeles Rams (43): He was a minor disappointment last season in New England, as Cooks only caught 65 balls. Now he is with the Rams, where Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods are already established WR targets, plus Todd Gurley gets a lot of looks, as well. Cooks will still be relevant, but could also be very inconsistent and will be too frustrating for a guy with a fourth-round price tag.

Jordan Reed, TE, Washington (87): Fantasy players who still get lured in by Reed should simply stop chasing his 2015 season and the remaining shreds of it from 2016. Reed played in only six games last season Womens Tyler Eifert Jersey , and has missed 16 games over the past three years. That’s a full NFL season, of course. He is much too risky to be the ninth tight end off the board.

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans (63): His ADP is based more on reputation than recent trends that may continue going forward. Last season, the Saints morphed into a team with outstanding RB play and a good defense. Brees no longer had to constantly fling the ball all over the yard as in the past, and look for the same approach in 2018. You’re not going to see 4,800 yards or 31-plus TDs again.

UNDERDRAFTED

Tarik Cohen, RB, Chicago (82): He is going to be one of the true breakout performers of the 2018 season in PPR formats. New head coach Matt Nagy is going to unleash the explosive all-around talent of Cohen in an improving Bears offense. Cohen is a fine value selection who will truly emerge as an upside performer this year.

Peyton Barber, RB, Tampa Bay (134): Obviously, most fantasy owners do not buy into Barber as the team’s current starter and expect rookie Ronald Jones to quickly emerge and soar past him. But Barber could hold onto the job for a while, as Jones is having trouble adjusting to the pro game. Barber can be a good flex player for an extensive stretch to open the season.

Robby Anderson, WR, New York Jets (95): Last year, Anderson averaged nearly 15 yards a catch and scored seven times, despite the Jets dealing with QB issues. This season, the quarterback position should have more stability, so you should expect Anderson to continue his emergence as an exciting playmaker. He’ll go over 1 Authentic Clay Matthews Jersey ,000 yards this time.

Calvin Ridley, WR, Atlanta (123): There should be more optimism surrounding what may be the best WR in this year’s rookie class. Ridley is going to be an electric complement to Julio Jones; he’s the No. 2 WR the Falcons have been seeking. If you nab Ridley in the double-digit rounds, you are really going to enjoy the returns when he has some impressive outings this year.

Ricky Seals-Jones, TE, Arizona (226): He is going near the end of drafts, but Seals-Jones could vie for top 10 fantasy tight end status this season. He is a big, fluid target who will become a prime threat for Arizona near the goal line. RSJ flashed some brief promise last season and should become a quality fantasy starter in his second pro season.

Philip Rivers, QB, Los Angeles Chargers (108): He is the 15th QB off the board on average, and never seems to get the fantasy respect he deserves. Rivers was the eighth most productive QB in fantasy last season, and has been a top 10 QB in five of the past six seasons. If you wait on a QB, as is often recommended, you can get Rivers in the double-digit rounds and you’ll strut, not walk, away from your draft table.

The Latest from Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Washington Capitals and the Vegas Golden Knights (all times local):

11 p.m.

The Washington Capitals are one win away from the first Stanley Cup championship in the 43-year history of the franchise.

T.J. Oshie Leonard Fournette Jersey Black , Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly all scored in the first period and the Capitals cruised from there in routing the Vegas Golden Knights 6-2 to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Only the 1942 Detroit Red Wings have blown a 3-1 series lead after winning the first three games against Toronto.

Game 5 is Thursday night in Las Vegas.

10:45 p.m.

James Neal has ended a long scoring drought for the Vegas Golden Knights and Reilly Smith added another goal, but the Washington Capitals still lead 5-2 late in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Neal scored 5:43 into the third period. He had missed an open net in the first period, when the game was scoreless. His goal broke up Braden Holtby’s shutout bid. It was the first goal against Holtby in 62:14 of ice time, since Game 3.

Smith added another with 7:35 left in the game, but Michal Kempny answered with a goal little more than minute later to restore a three-goal lead.

The Capitals are looking to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series that continues with Game 5 on Thursday night in Las Vegas.

9:55 p.m.

The Washington Capitals are 20 minutes away from a commanding 3-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

John Carlson scored the only goal of the second period on a power play at 15:23, giving the Capitals a 4-0 lead. T.J. Oshie, Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly all scored in the first period.

Vegas is still trying to find a way to put the puck past goalie Braden Holtby.

The Golden Knights have not held the lead since Game 1 and have been outscored 10-3 since winning the opener. Game 5 is Thursday night in Las Vegas.

9:40 p.m.

The Washington Capitals got three goals in the first period of Game 4 and are spending much of the second period making sure the lead stands up against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Striving to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Stanley Cup Final, the Capitals have killed a pair of power plays to maintain a three-goal cushion.

Vegas has a 20-13 advantage in shots on goal, but Washington has goals from T.J. Oshie Ryan Callahan Jersey , Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly.

The Capitals have not trailed at any point since their Game 1 loss.

9:30 p.m.

High schooler Jack Merritt threw a crab on the ice after Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final and hopes it becomes a Washington Capitals tradition.

The 15-year-old from Chevy Chase, Maryland, said before Game 4 that a crab is better than the ”stupid” plastic flamingo thrown onto the ice to celebrate Vegas Golden Knights wins. He knows all about the plastic rats in Florida, the octopi in Detroit and the catfish in Nashville. He wants crabs to be a thing at Capital One Arena after Washington victories.

Merritt bought a crab from a local restaurant before Game 3 and brought it into the arena with hope. He got down to the lower bowl from his upper-deck seats and managed to get the crab on the ice after the Capitals beat the Golden Knights 3-1 to take a 2-1 series lead.

Without tickets to Game 4, Merritt only hopes someone else follows his lead.

9:10 p.m.

Capitals fans had plenty to cheer about during the first period of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final after goals by T.J. Oshie, Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly.

They also got to cheer during a TV timeout.

Two months after the Humboldt Broncos’ bus crash killed 16 in Canada, forward Kaleb Dahlgren from the Saskatchewan junior league was shown on video screens at Capital One Arena.

Dahlgren got a nice reaction from the crowd and then a roar when he lifted up his yellow Humboldt jersey to reveal a red Capitals jersey.

9 p.m.

The Washington Capitals have taken a 3-0 lead into the first intermission of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Washington is looking to take a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly both scored in the final four minutes of the period after T.J. Oshie put the Capitals on top with a power-play goal 9:56 into the game.

Wilson is known for hard checks and time spent in the penalty box, but on this occasion he beat Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury with a shot from the slot at 3:58. Not long after that, Smith-Pelly scored from a tough angle on the left side after a weird bounce.

Earlier http://www.officialcapitals.com/authent … sov-jersey , with the game scoreless and the Golden Knights on the power play, Vegas winger James Neal hit the post in front of an open net.

8:35 p.m.

T.J. Oshie has given Washington an early 1-0 lead over Vegas in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Evgeny Kuznetsov’s shot off Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury rebounded to Oshie in front of the net and he jammed it home on the power play 9:54 into the first period.

The Golden Knights look much quicker on offense than in Game 3, when they took only 22 shots. James Neal missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring, hitting the right post when firing at an open net.

It is the third straight game the Capitals have scored first and they have won the last two for a 2-1 series lead.

8:20 p.m.

The puck has dropped, and Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is under way in the nation’s capital with Vegas trying to even the series against Washington at 2-2.

The Golden Knights are starting Tomas Tatar in place of From efforts to launch a cat into Instagram fame to offers to unravel yarn for an art project, people who aren’t part of the Super Bowl itself are using the game’s spotlight to promote their own ventures.

One online ad offers $40 an hour to someone who will impersonate a shirtless Christian Grey, the protagonist from ”Fifty Shades of Grey,” on Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, the city where this year’s Super Bowl is being held. Another offers $13 hourly to someone who will walk back and forth and unravel yarn for an art project Eric Staal Jersey , according to Minnesota Public Radio News .

One woman wants to hire someone for $30 an hour to hand out flyers promoting the Instagram account for her 20-pound cat. Elizabeth ”Z” Townsend said she’s gotten 20 to 25 people interested in the job.

”I’ve always wanted to gain recognition in a way and when I got Dumpling, he’s just the most beautiful cat and I knew that other people would like him as well. It brings people joy. It brings me joy to follow other cats and animals on Instagram,” Townsend said.

The Super Bowl crowds offer so many opportunities for side hustles that one man is making a documentary about them. David Leach, of New York City, got the idea at last year’s Super Bowl in Houston. This year’s Super Bowl is Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.

”I was thinking, man, somebody has got to capture this. I mean, there are so many different personalities that go to the host city just because of the amount of money that’s on the street,” he said. ”I’ve never been to a place in my life where there’s more business transactions happening at every level.”

Leach hired two Minnesota residents to help him navigate the state as he makes his movie Semyon Varlamov Jersey , called ”Hustler’s Holiday.”

”It’s really an amazing time just for anybody that’s working in almost any capacity, whether it be a chef or a hotel manager or an Uber driver or a DJ or a person trying to promote their cat,” Leach said.

Jackie Santrelle, 22, is hoping the Super Bowl could be her big break. She replied to a Craigslist ad seeking a Tina Turner impersonator, and was instead cast as Diana Ross for the ”Tribute to Motown” show at the Minnesota Music Cafe.

”It was amazing how the universe moves because I went in to do backgrounds and I came home Diana Ross,” Santrelle said.

Toronto’s Randal Grichuk put on a show for hundreds of friends and family that made the trek up to Houston to see him play just his third career game at a ballpark only about 35 miles from his hometown of Rosenberg Womens Jordan Howard Jersey , Texas.

Grichuk, who moved from center to right field in the bottom of the ninth Brock Boeser Jersey , had his back to the wall when he reached between two fans with gloves to make the grab.

Springer stopped running and bent down in disbelief when he realized Grichuk had robbed him.

”Baseball can be pretty cruel,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. ”That’s a tough one. Right off the bat, I thought George got one.

Verlander, who entered with a major league-best 1.60 ERA Womens Will Butcher Jersey , allowed four runs and seven hits – both season highs – in 6 2/3 innings.

Bregman also singled in Jake Marisnick in the fourth, but the Blue Jays tied it up again when Granderson sent the third pitch of the fifth inning into the stands in right for his eighth homer this season.

Granderson and the trio of Astros then laughed Milan Lucic Jersey Kids , and Granderson got back in the box to resume his at-bat.

The New York Giants have signed durable cornerback William Gay.

The team announced the signing Thursday, less than a week before the start of organized team activities.

A Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick in 2007, he played in 176 consecutive regular-season and 15 postseason games through the end of the 2017 season. He spent 10 of those years with Pittsburgh, and the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Gay is the fifth defensive back signed by the Giants this offseason, joining Michael Thomas Sidney Crosby Jersey , B.W. Webb, Curtis Riley and Teddy Williams.

Gay had 19 tackles, an interception, three passes defensed and two forced fumbles last season as a backup with the Steelers. He was released in March.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The competiveness of the NFL leaves little room for sentiment Authentic Josh Norman Jersey , not even for the most accomplished, respected or trusted players.

Brian Robison and Terence Newman were the latest reminders of that, left off the regular-season roster by the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday when the deadline for reaching the 53-player limit arrived.

The Vikings released Robison before his 12th season with the team was to begin. Then, they announced that Newman will retire and immediately join the coaching staff — three days before his 40th birthday.

Robison, who’s tied for ninth in Vikings history with 60 career sacks, was the longest-tenured player on the team. Drafted in the fourth round in 2007, he spent six of his 11 years with the Vikings as a full-time starter. Danielle Hunter moved ahead of him on the depth chart in 2017, and for the second straight offseason Robison took a pay cut to return in 2018.

With Stephen Weatherly (third year) and Tashawn Bower (second year) performing well in the preseason as backups to Hunter and Everson Griffen, Robison’s adjusted $1.1 million salary was still too much for the Vikings to carry considering the 35-year-old’s reduced role.

“This one hurts, but it’s not goodbye,” Robison wrote in a thank-you message on his Twitter account . “More like see you later.”

The Vikings felt strongly enough about Robison that they included statements from owners Zygi and Mark Wilf, general manager Rick Spielman and head coach Mike Zimmer in their announcement of his release.

“Brian has been one of the best leaders I’ve seen in my career Womens Jake Gardiner Jersey , and I’m happy I got the opportunity to coach him,” Zimmer said. “He’s been such a great player for us and an even better help building the kind of culture we want with this team.”

Newman joined the Vikings in 2015, reuniting with Zimmer after playing for him with Dallas (four seasons) and Cincinnati (two seasons) when Zimmer was the defensive coordinator for those teams. The fifth overall pick in the 2003 draft, Newman has 42 career interceptions, which was the most among active players following the retirement this spring of DeAngelo Hall. With Newman’s announcement, Carolina’s Julius Peppers (age 38) becomes the oldest defensive player in the league.

The Vikings said they’d provide more details on Newman’s role on the coaching staff in the near future. In addition to serving as a valuable mentor to starters Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes, Newman stepped in capably in the slot as the nickel cornerback when Mackensie Alexander struggled. The Vikings drafted Mike Hughes in the first round, though, giving them plenty of depth.

Robison and Newman were the only two players older than 30 on the roster. Strong safety Andrew Sendejo (Sept. 9), cornerback/punt returner Marcus Sherels (Sept. 30) and Griffen (Dec. 22) will turn 31 during the season.

The Vikings cut seven wide receivers this weekend, including Chad Beebe, Cayleb Jones and Kendall Wright. Beebe Olli Maatta Jersey , the son of former Buffalo folk hero Don Beebe, had a standout preseason but was out of action with an injury this week. Jones was charged with domestic assault and two other crimes this week for allegedly shoving his girlfriend during an argument at a hotel. Wright has 339 career catches, after playing his first five seasons in the NFL with Tennessee and last year for Chicago.

The fifth and final wide receiver spot on the team went to Brandon Zylstra, a native of Spicer, Minnesota, who played at NCAA Division III Concordia College and played the last two seasons in the CFL.

The Vikings placed backup linebacker and special teams contributor Kentrell Brothers on the suspended list, for a previously announced punishment from the NFL for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy.

Center Pat Elflein was removed from the physically unable to perform list after being held out for the entire preseason following offseason ankle and shoulder surgeries. If he’s not cleared to play in the season opener on Sept. 9 against San Francisco, either Brett Jones or Danny Isidora will play center. Cornelius Edison, who spent much of training camp as the first team center, was among the players released.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was back at practice on Sunday — as a spectator.

Gordon visited with teammates and Hall of Famer Jim Brown a day after ending his three-week absence from training camp and missing the first two exhibition games to work on his mental health and sobriety. The former Pro Bowler appeared to be in a good mood — and in excellent shape — as he stayed to the side and worked with trainers on his conditioning.

Gordon, who has missed most of the past four seasons because of violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, has not been cleared to practice. He may attend meetings and practices but is prohibited from being on the field.

No timetable has been set for Gordon’s return Womens Charlie McAvoy Jersey , but coach Hue Jackson said Saturday it’s possible he could play in the Sept. 9 season opener against Pittsburgh.

Wide receiver Jarvis Landry feels the same.

“Yeah, I mean, why not?” Landry said. “He’s been training this whole time, so we expect him to be ready. I’m sure he will be, but at the end of the day, we’re just happy to have him back.”

The 27-year-old Gordon excused himself from the team just before training camp opened last month. Gordon, who has not yet spoken to the media, said in a statement that he’s humbled at being back with the Browns and “I realize in order for me to reach my full potential my primary focus must remain on my sobriety and mental well-being.”

Gordon led the league with 1,646 yards receiving in 2013, when he burst onto the scene and became one of the league’s most dynamic players.

Landry was a junior at LSU and remembers it well.

“When you have a year, especially the one that Josh had, it brings eyes to that Authentic Aaron Rodgers Jersey , it brings everybody’s to it,” Landry said. “He’s an extremely great talent in this league and he’s physically gifted and it shows. And that’s what you want to see.”

Landry feels that with Gordon on the field, defenses will have a hard time focusing on any one Cleveland receiver.

“He’s a playmaker, he’s a guy that’s going to give us the ability to do a lot of things,” Landry said. “I’m excited to play with him. I’m excited to work with him, compete with him, and that’s what’s going to help us get to the level that we need to be at to win games.”

The NFL assistant coach with the longest consecutive tenure with the same team finally is retiring.

The Tennessee Titans announced Friday that strength and conditioning coach Steve Watterson is retiring after 32 years with the franchise Womens Jordan Howard Jersey , and Tom Kanavy will take over after three seasons with the team.

Watterson joined the then-Houston Oilers in 1986 as strength and conditioning coordinator before becoming assistant coach in 1988. He moved with the franchise to Tennessee in 1997. He said in a statement it became came clear it was time to retire with the Titans starting their offseason program Monday.

Kanavy spent eight seasons as head of strength and conditioning for Minnesota and 11 years with Philadelphia as an assistant. He also worked at the University of Miami and Penn State.

RG3 is staying put while AJ is switching coasts.

Robert Griffin III, the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year whose career has been disrupted by injuries since that season, remained with Baltimore as the Ravens cut their roster to the league maximum of 53 on Saturday. He’ll likely be the third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and first-round draft pick Lamar Jackson, but he still has a job.

AJ McCarron, who signed with Buffalo as a free agent after four years as a backup QB in Cincinnati, was traded by the Bills to Oakland. The Raiders closed a deal with Chicago to send star pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Bears for a slew of draft picks, including two first-rounders.

Among the intriguing players let go were Dallas kicker Dan Bailey, Chiefs cornerback David Amerson, Ravens receiver Breshad Perriman Jalen Ramsey Jersey Black , Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson, Texans receiver Braxton Miller and guard Davis Quessenberry, and Steelers quarterback Landry Jones.

QUARTERBACKS

Griffin signed a one-year deal with the Ravens in April after sitting out the entire 2017 season. He was Washington’s first-round choice in 2012, second overall, and led the Redskins to the playoffs that year before things went sour.

“There’s no doubt that you want Robert Griffin on your team,” coach John Harbaugh said after the final preseason game. “He makes our quarterback room better and stronger. He’s a very good quarterback. He looks like a starter to me. He has been a starter. Certainly a backup in this league, without question. I mean, that’s not even close. I would like to have him on the team, we’ll just have to see how the math works.”

It worked.

Another survivor thus far: Paxton Lynch in Denver.

The 2016 first-rounder got through cutdown day despite slipping to third on the depth chart this summer. Chad Kelly leapfrogged Lynch last month and became the second seventh-rounder to beat out the former Memphis star. Trevor Siemian also managed it Ryan O'Reilly Jersey , but is now with Minnesota.

In Pittsburgh, Josh Dobbs’ impressive preseason cost Jones his job. The Steelers kept Dobbs and rookie Mason Rudolph as the primary backups to Ben Roethlisberger. Dobbs made significant strides in his second training camp and ended the preseason by throwing for a touchdown and running for another in a victory over Carolina. Jones had been 3-2 as a starter in five pro seasons, with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Cincinnati put vet Matt Barkley (knee) on injured reserve, leaving Jeff Driskel as the backup to Andy Dalton heading into the season.

BUSY GRUDEN

The Raiders waived Martavis Bryant just over four months after trading a third-round pick to Pittsburgh for the receiver.

The decision to cut Bryant came on a busy day for returning coach Jon Gruden, who dealt holdout pass rusher Mack to the Bears.

Oakland got nothing out of the third-round draft pick sent to the Steelers for Bryant, who dealt with injuries in training camp and has had several off-field issues in his career.

McCarron came from Buffalo for a 2019 fifth-round pick. He was both injured and inconsistent for the Bills in preseason and fell behind first-rounder Josh Allen and Nathan Peterman.

Among the other notable players cut by Gruden were 2015 second-round defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr. and 2016 fourth-round quarterback Connor Cook. Edwards’ release means the Raiders now have none of their second-round picks from 2015-17 on the current roster.

FAILED DRAFT PICKS

The Ravens parted with Perriman, the team’s first-round pick in 2015. He managed just 43 catches for 576 yards and three touchdowns over 27 career games. It marked the first time in franchise history the Ravens cut a first-round pick before the end of his rookie contract.

The Bills chose not to hold onto receiver Corey Coleman, who has been a disappointment since the Browns made him the 15th overall selection two years ago. Buffalo traded a seventh-round pick in 2020 for him.

RELEASED VETERANS

Brian Robison and Terence Newman were released by Minnesota.

Robison was about to begin his 12th season with the team. Newman, the oldest defensive player in the NFL http://www.officialstarsproonline.com/a … hie-jersey , will retire and immediately join the coaching staff — three days before his 40th birthday.

The Bengals released Johnson, a 10th-year defensive end, although it could be a temporary separation. Johnson becomes a free agent and could re-sign with Cincinnati for less money.

Johnson has played all but one of his nine seasons with Cincinnati. He led the defensive line with 49 tackles and five sacks last season.

The Chiefs released underperforming cornerback Amerson, who signed a $2.25 million free-agent deal this past offseason. Amerson was released by the Raiders before signing with Kansas City, where he was expected to solidify the secondary after the trade of Marcus Peters to the Rams. But he was often burned in preseason games.

Running backs Mike Gillislee and Brandon Bolden were sent packing by New England. Gillislee Tim Heed Jersey , signed as a restricted free agent before last season, ran for 383 yards and five touchdowns in nine games. He and Bolden became expendable with the signing of free agent Jeremy Hill.

Bolden, who has been with the team since 2012, was also released on cutdown day last season but then quickly brought back and played in all 16 games — at running back and on special teams.

There’s still no guarantee Ereck Flowers is going to remain with the Giants.

But he’s at least working out with them.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN John Miller Jersey , the former first-round pick returned to workouts with the Giants today.

Flowers was reportedly upset (and Pat Shurmur wishes players would stop talking about it) by the team acquiring left tackle Nate Solder in free agency), which required him to move to the right side and compete for a starting job. He registered that displeasure by staying away from voluntary workouts.

The Giants offered him up in trade during the draft but found no takers for a mid-round pick (for the guy once picked ninth overall). So now the challenge is to get him back aboard and ready to work.

They didn’t pick up his fifth-year option, so he’s in a contract year Zach Miller Jersey , creating incentive for him. The Giants also have a vested interest in him returning, since there’s not another obvious starting right tackle option on the roster at the moment.

Among the players receiving their Super Bowl rings in Philadelphia on Thursday night was veteran defensive back Corey Graham.

Graham played 84 percent of the defensive snaps for the Eagles in their 41-33 victory over the Patriots, but has not signed with anyone since becoming a free agent at the start of the new league year in March. Graham http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/ … ton-jersey , who turns 33 next month, told Bo Wulf of The Athletic that he’d be open to changing that.

“Oh yeah, I’ll play at some point if I’m feeling good Pernell McPhee Jersey , obviously I’ll go out there,” Graham said. “But when the time comes, we’ll sit down and talk and decide what we’re going to do.”

Graham was also asked about returning to the Eagles and said he loved his time with the team during a “special year Tarell Basham Jersey ,” but doesn’t know if that will be a possibility.

The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed punt returner Marcus Sherels for a ninth season with his home state team.

Though he’s played sparingly at cornerback Tony Dorsett Jersey , Sherels has carved out a solid niche since latching on with the Vikings in 2010 out of a rookie tryout camp. On punt returns since 2012, he has an NFL-leading five touchdowns and 23 returns of 20-plus yards.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Sherels was raised in Rochester and played in college at Minnesota. His career average of 10.4 yards per punt return is the highest in Vikings history.

The deal was done Thursday, the fourth time in five years Sherels re-upped after his previous contract expired. The Vikings also signed linebacker Reshard Cliett, who has been with six teams in three years.

When the Alliance of American Football makes its first snap next February, there could be lots of familiar names playing for each of the eight teams.

Makes sense, too, because a brand new league needs as many hooks to attract fans as it can find. The Alliance is going with a geographic allocation system that takes advantage of where players attended college, or where they performed in the NFL.

For example, if former Alabama standout running back Trent Richardson opts to join the Alliance, he would be placed on Birmingham’s roster. Players who attended Arizona or Arizona State would wind up with the Phoenix franchise. Anyone who played for one of the major Florida schools would be placed with the Orlando team.

”We think this will disperse the talent in a way that will be logical Marshall Faulk Jersey ,” says Bill Polian, whose work as an NFL personnel man with Buffalo, Carolina and Indianapolis got him voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. ”We borrowed that from the USFL.”

Polian, Alliance CEO Charlie Ebersol and the other league founders hope to be far more successful and have more longevity than that league, which lasted three seasons in the 1980s before folding. Unquestionably, players to fill out the 75-man rosters – other franchises will be in San Diego, Memphis, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and Atlanta – are available. Now, the Alliance has a system for distributing them, particularly once NFL teams make their roster cuts at the beginning of September.

Basically Adrian Amos Jersey , players from any schools in the SEC, ACC and Pac-12 power conferences will wind up with a franchise in their region. Polian says because the Alliance has no markets in Big Ten and Big 12 areas, ”we left them largely unallocated.” Players from such schools as Penn State or Kansas State likely will be apportioned based on which NFL club cut them. But the league plans to distribute four NFL teams’ cuts to each of the Alliance squads.

”In addition, we gave each team a CFL team, again based on rough geography,” Polian says. ”The West CFL teams would go to the West Alliance teams …

”When a player is cut or he is not in the NFL or CFL, the first thing is we look for a college affiliation. His rights are your property if he is affiliated with one of your colleges. If his college is not assigned, we go to his pro team. If the NFL team does not work, and he is in the CFL, we go to that. Finally, if he is completely unallocated http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/ryan-groy-jersey , he can be put on rights list first-come, first-serve.”

Most smaller schools have not been allocated, nor have any from the lower levels of college ball.

Should a player draw interest from an NFL club after being cut in September and allocated to an Alliance team, he would be free to return to the NFL. But not once the Alliance begins play the weekend after the Super Bowl.

”They can go at any time except from the start of our training camp to our championship game,” says Polian, whose league will play a 10-game season, with four teams making the playoffs. ”The reason we set our calendar the way we did, our season ends just as OTAs are beginning (in the NFL). They won’t miss a heck of a lot, if anything at all, and they will be in shape in late April. They can go right back to the NFL and not miss a beat.”

Or they could head back to college. The Alliance will be offering players post-secondary education assistance, as well as health and wellness benefits.

”In addition http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline … dis-jersey ,” Polian explains ”every player completing a full (Alliance) season will receive a scholarship of a significant amount of money and we will provide counseling if they want to go back to school.”

Each player will be signed to a three-year contract with a minimum base gross salary of $250,000 over three years. But they can earn more.

”With bonuses related to skill, statistical levels and even some fan engagement,” Polian says, ”they can earn considerably more than their base minimum. We think it’s very competitive and a decent wage for basically a 10-game season.”

Now that the Alliance has established how it will distribute players and has scheduled scouting combines for August for players not in NFL camps, the next big step comes Sept. 1: cutdown day in the NFL.

”The large push will come at the cut to 53 when a great many players will come on the market,” Polian says. ”Our big challenge will be getting the right players.”

THOUSAND OAKS Jerrell Freeman Jersey , Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Rams continue to finalize contract extensions for players other than standout defensive tackle Aaron Donald, as right tackle Rob Havenstein on Monday agreed to terms of a four-year deal through the 2022 season worth $32.5 million.

Coach Sean McVay said Havenstein, who has started 43 games over the past three seasons since being drafted in the second round in 2015, had earned the new contract by “becoming one of the more consistent right tackles in this league.”

Havenstein made 15 regular-season starts last year as the Rams led the league in scoring at 29.9 points per game and won the NFC West for the first time since 2003 in McVay’s first season.

“This was a dream, a hope, a goal when I first got drafted to St. Louis, and now we’re (in) LA, obviously,” said Havenstein, who will play out the final year of his rookie contract this season. “The longer I can spend here, the better. I absolutely love this staff, love the team we have here.”

Havenstein is the third member of the Rams’ offense to sign an extension this offseason, all while Donald continues his holdout for the second consecutive year.

Todd Gurley agreed to a four-year, $60 million extension through 2023 last month, the most lucrative deal for a running back in NFL history with $45 million in guaranteed money.

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks received a five-year extension through 2023 last month after the Rams traded first- and sixth-round draft picks to New England in April to acquire him.

“It’s a great opportunity to continue to keep that continuity,” McVay said. “You always want to take care of your own, especially if that’s something that is available and those guys demonstrate that they are deserving of that.”

McVay said there was no update regarding the status of Donald http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/c … uez-jersey , with the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year and three-time first-team All-Pro seeking a new contract that would likely make him the highest-paid defensive player ever. His rookie contract will end after this season, but because he didn’t report by Aug. 7, he will be a restricted free agent after the season instead of an unrestricted free agent.

The contract status of Donald is a large piece in a complex puzzle for general manager Les Snead.

Quarterback Jared Goff will be eligible for a contract extension after this season, and starting guards Rodger Saffold and Jason Brown will be free agents at the end of 2018.

Havenstein hopes the offensive line can remain intact after this season, but recognizes financial considerations might not make that possible.

Either way, he was looking forward to paying for a celebratory dinner with the whole offensive line group soon, perhaps as early as this week.

“We got a weigh-in Wednesday, so at least push it until then,” Havenstein said.

NOTES: Defensive tackle Dominique Easley (torn ACL) was activated off the physically unable to perform list Monday. McVay said Easley is “full-go” after sustaining the injury in training camp last season. … McVay said left tackle Andrew Whitworth, center John Sullivan and linebacker Mark Barron could be held out of Saturday’s preseason game against Houston.
Drew Brees hardly sounds like a man in denial.

Following the first practice of his 18th training camp on Thursday, the 39-year-old Saints quarterback openly acknowledged how little might be left of his career. But he also expressed a determination to make the most of it.

”I understand that I don’t have a whole lot of time left,” said Brees, who’ll be 40 in January and whose contract expires after the 2019 season. ”You’ve got to work and have high expectations and sacrifice and do maybe even more now than I ever have.”

Brees figures wisdom and experience have improved his game mentally in ways that mitigate the physical effects of aging, but that’s not what he attributes most to his longevity.

He considers the single most significant evolution in his game over the past half-decade to be his increased emphasis on throwing mechanics – the placement of his feet, the rotation of his torso, the angle of his arm motion, the point at which he releases the ball Akiem Hicks Jersey , and so forth.

Brees regurgitates odd-sounding terminology he’s learned from reputed throwing guru Tom House, such as ”ankle eye,” meant to convey the idea that if the inside ankle of a thrower’s push-off leg had an eye, it should be ”looking” toward the target.

”I didn’t think a whole lot about mechanics until about six years ago. I think I was just kind of a natural thrower. Like, I’d always been a pitcher in baseball, or shortstop,” Brees said. ”So you kind of reach a point where that’s so second-nature that you just do it, and yet you don’t really understand the elements of why are you able to get velocity, or the components that go into being an efficient thrower and being really accurate.

”As you get older, you begin to develop more of an appreciation for that,” Brees continued. ”Your physical skills begin to diminish, right? But you want to make those things repeatable and correctable if you do get off track. So, I’d say I’ve become more in tune with my mechanics.”

It was hard to argue with the results during team drills Thursday, when Brees heaved a pinpoint pass over the top of the secondary to rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith for a touchdown covering about 60 yards.

But when Brees misses a throw, he says he knows ”exactly why I missed it,” giving various examples of what might have gone wrong. ”My feet were out of whack. Or, I didn’t get proper rotation Denzelle Good Jersey , or I let my (non-throwing) arm get outside the framework of my body; I didn’t stay closed long enough. I didn’t have my front shoulder down. I didn’t have my ankle eye” facing the target.

In 2011, when Brees was 32, his 5,476 yards passing set a single-season NFL record eclipsed only once since, when Denver’s Peyton Manning passed for one yard more in 2013.

Last season, Brees passed for 4,334 yards, his lowest total in 12 seasons with the Saints. Yet, Brees also reclaimed the NFL record for single-season accuracy with a 72 percent completion rate, topping his previous high of 71.2 in 2011, which was an NFL record until it fell to Sam Bradford (71.6) in 2016.

Meanwhile, the Saints were back in the playoffs last season, bolstered by a strong running game and improved defense. So Brees didn’t see his 2017 yards passing total as a harbinger of decline.

The success of the running game ”allowed us to stay more committed to it,” Brees said.

And with a better defense, ”we didn’t have to take as many chances offensively and have to throw the ball – push the ball down the field,” Brees continued. ”Those are all good things.”

Brees still talks of playing as long as possible, but eschews bold predictions about lasting into his mid-40s or beyond O. J. Simpson Jersey , unlike New England’s Tom Brady .

And what about family? Brees has four children younger than 10, but says he doesn’t see his desire to be involved in their lives as a detriment to his football career. Rather, he contends, it makes him more focused when he is at Saints headquarters.

”I have to be able to leave this facility and go be with my family, be with my wife, be with my kids. They help balance me out,” Brees said. ”That enjoyment in my life helps me be a better football player and it also forces me when I’m here to be as efficient as possible, because I know now my time can’t run over. I can’t say, `Oh, I’ll stay an extra hour.’ No. I have to get my work done by this time, so I get home and read my kids a book before they go to bed – or else I miss that opportunity and then that eats at me and then it throws off my balance.”

Of course, good balance helps with throwing – for Brees, in more ways than one.
